You’ve got smartphones.
Are you ready for smart cameras?
Samsung has a new Galaxy Camera and AT&T will give it wireless connectivity first. It uses the latest Android operating system, 4.1 Jelly Bean, that you’d find on the latest and greatest Android smartphones like the uber-popular Samsung Galaxy S III.
But this is a true point-and-shoot camera, not a text machine — although it’s a point-and-shoot that has a Skye-ready microphone and a point-and-shoot that you can also use to download Doodle Jump from the Google Play Market.
Perhaps Samsung is counting on this fact: with more people using smartphones to take photos, the interest in photo taking and photo sharing are all time highs, and maybe people want a better camera than you can get in a smartphone. So you get 21x optical zoom, no shutter delay, fast auto-focus. You know, camera stuff.
It’s easier to take sharper and clearer photos with this thing, but it’s also like a Jelly Bean tablet with an odd-shaped rear section (when looking at the screen). Samsung is popular for creating devices, throwing them against a wall and seeing what sticks.
This is not a bad experiment. It’s so back-to-the-future that Galaxy Camera may, in fact, stick like Spider-Man.
