News breaks today, again, that Sprint will get an iPad in addition to the iPhone and the iPad could be coming in a few weeks.
9to5Mac says the Sprint version is ready to go right now and speculates the unit could launch with iPhone 5, which the tech blog still pegs for a oct. 7 launch
The blog’s sources also say this iPad is completely separate from the CDMA Verizon version. That could mean a 4G/WiMax Sprint version. Be nice if it came with unlimited data, too.
But none of that is terribly surprising, right?
In the same veign, the International Data Corporation reports today that worldwide media tablet shipments rose 88.9 percent on a sequential basis and 303.8 percent year over year in the second quarter 2011.
Tablet shipments jumped to 13.6 million, and IDC expects total yearly shipments to jump to 62.5 million from its previous forecast of 53.5 million.
The big winner here? Are you surprised it’s Apple? iPad two saw shipments hit 9.3 million, or 68.3 percent of the world’s share, up from 65.7 the previous quarter.
RIM’s PlayBook grabbed 4.9 percent market share, while Android tabs slipped from 34 percent share to 26.8.
